Electronic Poker is a beloved game that usually will be wagered on in casinos across the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the best mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it is very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be handed out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that skillful bettors are able to select the most profitable machine every instance.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
